I write all of these cigar reviews for everyone to read but I have not written one of any Cigar lounge. This was actually brought to my attention by my wife and to quote her, “You have a shitload of cigar reviews, why the hell haven’t you reviewed any lounges?” Well, I hear you loud and clear. Here will be my first lounge review. Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf, Welcome to Penn Ohio Cigar Lounge in Sharon, Pennsylvania.

George Joseph is the Founder of the Penn Ohio Cigar Company. I will start this off with this note: George and I did not have a very nice “1st encounter”. It was right in the middle of the Covid Pandemic and I do not wear masks for personal reasons, however, George was following protocol and I was not allowed to enter the store. About a month later, a mutual friend of ours, Mr K, who many of you know from some of my reviews, invited me to a cigar night at Penn Ohio. I quickly informed Mr. K of the situation and his recommendation to me was to call George and explain my situation and possibly amend the situation. Well, low and behold, the conversation between George and I went smoothly and we both ended up meeting on the same page and came to and understanding, I went to the cigar night and have been a dedicated patron ever since.

The Lounge:

The lounge itself is a very comfortable place to be at. It is equipped with leather couches and chairs which aside from playing into the “Cigar Lounge Motif” does add a touch of comfort to the elegance. It has sealed brick walls on both sides which gives it a rustic city vibe and reminds me of buildings you would find in downtown Pittsburgh. The walls are lined with Cigar Aficionado Magazine celebrity covers/centerfolds and wonderfully placed cigar paraphernalia.

For the winter time, there is a beautiful wood burning heater that believe it or not, gets pretty damned hot. At the counter is a 15 glass cube display unit with lighters, pipes and other items for purchase. To the back of that, he has a decent selection of humidors that fit all budgets. Across from the counter is a 8ft by 20ft estimated walk in humidor which carries a selection of cigars that would rival any store within a 50 mile radius. In this humidor are over 400 varieties of cigars that range in price from $1-$24. Most cigar enthusiasts will find what they are looking for within this selection. The true gem is behind the back wall.

There is a secondary lounge room that is even more intimate that can hold 8-12 people comfortably, if your lucky enough to get in there. From what I know of this room, it is mainly used as overflow when it is busy but you can also request it for a holiday party. For more information on this, you will have to contact George and inquire about it.

All in all, I absolutely love this lounge and I do frequent it at least 4 times a week. There is a core group of patrons that show up at various times of the day and the staff are very nice and easy to get along with. If your ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. You will be glad that you did.
