I have been scouring the surrounding counties and every state that I travel to searching for any Trinidad cigar I can find. Low and behold, I have finally found one in a Cigar shop in down town Pittsburgh, PA.

So, this cigar was the brainchild of the Trinidad Cigar Company and the great A.J Fernandez. You know, A.J Fernandez keeps popping up in my books. I cant turn around with out bumping into him, (figuratively speaking). It seams like he has his hands in every cigar that’s being created now a days. I have had plenty of cigars by him or that he assisted in the creation of and for the most part, he makes a great product. I say this because, I feel like some of the cigars he has his hand in only differ slightly from others. That being said, Ill get to the cigar!

The Trinidad Espiritu No. 1 has a carefully blended batch of Nicaraguan tobaccos to create a fantastic Nicaraguan Puro. To find the blend itself is damn near impossible. All that I can tell you is that it is a Puro.

I am smoking the torpedo so I am using my scissors and after clipping it, the dry draw is just fucking spectacular. It produces notes of Vanilla, Pepper and Citrus. But as I lite this up, those exact notes are present and form a truly spectacular chewy and gummy sensation. I have never described anything as gummy and chewy. What a truly unique taste. Now I will add this side note: I was told that many people who bought this cigar at this particular store did not like it because it was to “spice”. I have not had one ounce of spice and I am almost to the 2nd third. That being said, The citrus has turned sweeter and there is a touch of dark leather that has entered as I cross into the 2nd third. The creaminess is still very present and the taste of pepper has left. A slight floral note enters halfway through the 2nd third. The citrus starts to die off and the leather gets creamier as I’m in the final third and these characteristics remain through the end.

All-in-all, this is a damn good stick. I have put an order in for a box of these. Judging by the looks of the cellophane on this cigar, it has been in there for a whole. I would like to try one fresh out of the box. If you haven’t tried one, I recommend you do.
