I always look for the story behind a particular cigar or the cigar company itself. The story behind the lineage 1996 cigar by Alec Bradley is one that kicks me right in the Feel Goods. Alan Ruben has been creating cigars for quite some time but what I like about the cigar is it represents family. His two sons, Alec and Bradley, is who he named his company after. The company was founded in 1996. 18 years later when both his sons were of legal age, the lineage Cigar was created in honor of that momentous occasion.

This cigar is well-made. It would need to be when you’re basing it off of the heritage of your family. Very nice seams, very few veins, a beautiful medium brown colored Honduran wrapper from the Trojes region and an excellent yet classic looking label that reminds one of 1800s Britain. And I also love the pigtail on the end. That is a very classy touch. The aroma was very interesting though, it smelled like old leather and cow shit and I’m not making that up, I’m also not sure what to make of that. in the first third I found some earthy notes as well as a musty flavor such as straw but mostly just natural tobacco‘s.

As I dive right into the cigar, There is fantastic notes of earth and cedar with some slight citrus. There is some slight spice on the back of the pallet like white pepper and as you work into the end of the first third the spice picked up just a little bit. And the second third flavor profiles stayed pretty much the same but in the final third the spice increase drastically as well as the earthtones picked up. There is also a hint of licorice and a very mild undertone of nutmeg that comes in. All in all the flavor profile wasn’t much but did stay consistent. I would say that it was a pretty decent smoke. Im not sure if I would’ve named this particular Cigar after such a momentous occasion, but then again my palate is different from theirs. The one thing I try to tell people when they read reviews or even read my reviews, this is my opinion that I make public. Take out of it what you want, disregard what you don’t. But this company still continues to stay at the top of my list and I have many of their cigars in my humidors.
