I was lucky enough to come across a four pack sampler of a maduro version of Perdomo cigars. Down at my local cigar shop, he had this sampler and the sungrown version of the four pack that I purchased. I love getting sampler packs for one main reason, as a Cigar reviewer, it makes it easier than going in to a humidor and buying a whole bunch of cigars. I get to try different cigars with different wrappers of different types and blends all bundled up in a sampler pack. That being said, I also purchased the sun grown Version but I will be reviewing the maduro version first.

Now to Nick Perdomo, what can I say? The man loves what he does. Perdomo is a family owned and operated Cigar company which is headquartered down in Miami Florida. They also have their facility in Esteli Nicaragua. Nick prides himself on controlling the process from start to finish and quality is something that he values tremendously. I recently had a couple of cigars pull apart and break on me and they offered to replace them on the spot. This 20th anniversary stick celebrates that quality and commitment to excellence.

These cigars have Cuban seed long fillers grown down in Esteli, Jalapa and Condega Nicaragua in the black, volcanic soil‘s that gives the cigars tremendous flavor. These tobacco‘s are wonderfully aged and blended together to create this amazing Cigar. It also has a Nicaraguan broadleaf maduro wrapper which has been extra fermented and then cedar aged and then barrel aged in old bourbon barrels for 14 months prior to being applied to the cigar itself. And people wonder why Perdomo Cigars taste so wonderful.

As I light up and get into the first third, there is a massive batch of musty leather the kicks you right in the gums. The draw is smooth and elegant with more notes of earth, toasted almonds and coffee. I don’t know what could be better at this point. There’s a certain creaminess that comes into play about halfway through the first third which just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. rounding into the second third there is a touch of Coco and the leather gets a little bit richer as the second third moves forward. There is a small amount of sweet red pepper that comes into the mix which is undoubtably a fantastic flavor to add to this already enjoyable cigar. Nothing changes much as we get into the final third except it gets a little bit more intense as it burns on. So far this is my favorite Perdomo Cigar that I’ve tried. I look forward to testing some more.
