This might just be the darkest looking cigar I’ve ever seen. And it’s by a maker that I’ve never heard of before. This cigar was given to me buy a cigar friend of mine who owns slippery rock cigars in slippery rock Pennsylvania and he said it was a Cigar that not many people know of. So you guessed it, trying to find any sort of specs on it for this review is damn near impossible. But here’s what I found.

Pedro Gonzalaz is the owner of Don Gonzalez cigars and he hits it big with this particular stick.

Right out of the gate, this stogie it’s quite the site. A beautiful midnight dark Nicaraguan wrapper with a black and gold label. Very stunning! Enclosed is all Nicaraguan tobaccos from three different regions of Nicaragua that are wonderfully blended together to create this stunning Cigar. This is a Nicaraguan cigar through and through. The wrapper has some very large veins and it smelled a little bit like compost which was very strange. The cold draw was sweet with notes of cedar.

Now as we move into the first third, there were very nice notes of earth and a touch of sweetness. Some slight cocoa and cedar with some coffee in the secondary position but as I move into the second third, the flavors become primarily a sweet, cedar with a touch of chocolate on the finish. A very delightful flavor as it burns. In the final third, the cigar became hotter. But the flavors pretty much stayed the same. Nothing changed from the flavor profile from the Second third to the final third. All in all this was a pretty decent cigar. Beautiful wrapper, classy band, pleasant earthtones with a nice sweetness, you cannot go wrong.
