OK then, this particular cigar caught me by complete surprise. First off, it was only $3.50, which most people know relatively means a cheap tasting cigar. Secondly, it is made by a gentleman by the name of Henke Kelner, and for those of you who do not know who this gentleman is, he is the mastermind behind some of the greatest cigars to ever come out of AVO and Davidoff. Yes, I just said two of the cigar industry king pin companies. This came of a surprise to me considering this is such a cheap, basic looking stick. But that just goes to show you, never, and I mean never, judge anything by the way it looks or its price tag when you’re talking about the cigar Industry.

Now, from an appearance and aroma standpoint, the P1 doesn’t really scream elegant and rare. But again, looks can be deceiving. it does however have a flawless Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper. And from what I can find, it has Dominican fillers. There really isn’t much spec on this particular cigar. But considering it’s made by Davidoff, I can tell you that it has fairly decent tobacco in it.

Now when I first cut into this, the draw is impeccably smooth and clear, And the dry draw flavors are sweet and creamy which was not to be expected for as cheap as it was. The first third produced notes of musty cedar and a medium bold cocoa with a touch of Baker’s spices. This flowed pleasantly into the second third when a splash of creamy caramel and chocolate came into the mix. Normally on cheap cigars, this is about the point where The cigar would start to turn ashy, but not this cigar. Rotating into the final third a hint of figs gets added to the mix which finishes the cigar off quite well.

There are some cigars that takes you the entire cigar to feel satisfied because it is a very light, on the other hand, there are some cigars that are so bold that after a few puffs you wanna put it out because it’s just too intense. This was the opposite. A good blend of tobacco made me want to finish the entire stick without question. It was also slow burning which lasted 11 holes on the golf course the day that I smoked it. But it was not enough to do a long night of poker. The downside is that the wrapper was peeling. throughout my years of smoking cigars I found that the Connecticut wrappers tend to be the ones that rip and tear. In my opinion this is due to how thin they are. I don’t normally dock points when it comes to a Connecticut rapper because that is to be expected, but, I was not too happy about that.

Now I know when I say it was peeling, some of you automatically assume that it was not at the proper humidification but I assure you my humidor is kept between 69° and 71% humidity. But I will not negate the fact that it could’ve just been old. Towards the end I was not too thrilled with the filler cutting loose and displacing itself all over my tongue but other than that it was a phenomenal. Enough that I would actually keep a few in my humidor.
