You guessed it, it is my weekly Cigar night with Mr. K, And tonight on the docket is the Arturo Fuente opus X rare estate reserve. When it comes to Arturo Fuente, it is very difficult to find the specs on what exactly goes in their cigars. But what I can tell you is it is some of the best tobaccos the world has ever seen. exquisitely taken care of, masterfully blended and you can tell that extreme care was taken in making every single stick. That being said, I can tell you that the rapper, filler and binder are all from the Dominican republic. The sticks are 100% handmade and this particular Cigar there’s a 52 x 6 1/2. To date, I have had quite a few opus cigars and I do not prefer one over the other, they all have their own unique flavor. But let’s get to the cigar.

The construction of the cigar is perfect. Very few veins in the wrapper itself, a wonderful sheen on the wrapper Leaf, the banding is a wonderful piece of art in its own right. On a sidenote, I’m not sure who designs the banding but they deserve everything they’re being paid. If you put it under a microscope there are so many designs inside of each band, it is quite the masterpiece. I love the fact that each cigar is individually wrapped with a thin sheet of cedar and a wonderful red ribbon at the foot of the cigar. The aroma is fantastic as well. Yes sir the dry draw produces notes of fresh cedar chips, almonds and a hint of fresh figs.

The first third brings on a very complex bouquet of flavors. Sometimes it’s almost hard to pick out the different notes. But right off the bat I am tasting notes of a mild red pepper that is so cautiously paired with oak and a mild touch of cocoa. Going into the second third there’s definitely a few more notes of wood added in. It’s not just oak anymore put some slight cedar and a touch of pine enters the mix. There’s also some mild notes of freshly brewed coffee and a creaminess that is quite soothing to the palate. But getting into the final third the cedar really does stand out and the figs that I tasted in the draw draw are definitely present in the final third. All in all, this is worth every penny. you can tell the love that was put into growing and taking care of the tobacco in order to roll it up into the cigar for us to enjoy. I do not hesitate to purchase any op
