Arturo Fuente! A company that was founded by Arturo Fuente Senior in 1912, in West Tampa, Florida. The company suffered from a catastrophic fire in 1924 and the brand halted their cigar production for the next 22 years. In 1946 on a extremely limited basis, the company reopened for local business. In 1958, Arturo Fuente Sr Son, Carlos fuente Senior, took over his father‘s company. From that point, the company started to take a turn for the good.

Now, for those of you who follow me in the cigar world know that when a label like this appears it is definitely my Weekly meeting with my associate Mr. K. And that is exactly what we have here. Tonight’s pleasure was the Arturo Fuente opus X 20 years celebration and it was definitely a celebration in my mouth to say the least. My palate was exploding with enjoyment my taste buds were salivating as I am wrapped the cigar and peel the label to place into my cigar journal. It was quite an experience just getting to be able to smell the cigar.

Arturo Fuente is known for outstanding cigars. Even the bottom of the line smokes are more notorious than most high-end cigar makers. The one thing they had a problem with was cultivating a decent wrapper. In 1992 they discover a new method and by 1995 they released it on there then flag ship cigar line, the opus X. Disregard was celebrating 20 years of that feat.

Now to the flavor profile. In the first third you immediately get a blast of black pepper On the back of the pallet and you get some nuttiness and a touch of cinnamon in the underlining position. In the second third the cinnamon and nuttiness are now upfront in the primary position and pepper is in the back but there is also a dash of licorice and a very small amount of fresh cedar notes that are added to the mix. But as we roll into the final third it remains the same with a bold earthiness added to it. I took the cigar down to about ½ of an inch an absolutely no ash flavor nor did it get hot. If I would’ve had a set a roach clips I think I might’ve been able to get it down to a quarter inch. But as it was already burning off my mustache I did not add to the flavor profile so I and the cigar on that note. Absolutely outstanding cigar
