I recently purchased a 4 pack sampler at Penn Ohio Cigar Lounge and I have already typed a review on the Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro. I have however, smoked all of them as of the typed review and I will say that the Perdomo Lot 23 review was not worth typing. I was seriously disapointed by that stick. It had a great back story but seriously lacked in flavor and any review under 90 I do not type. The 20th however was a good stick so check my site for that review.
This stick I was told was Perdomo’s best seller. That dosen’t make me excited at all. Just because something isa popular does not mean it is good. I mean, Justin Beiber is popular but his music sucks ass, but, I do take pride in trying all cigars. So Ill get right to it….
This Perdomo Champagne Noir is the Maduro wrapped version of the ever so popular Noir and it uses triple fermented cuban seed Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper that was aged for about 2 years. Most of that aging time was spent in old Bourbon barrels. The tobacco inside the cigar is a well blended and aged mix of Nicaraguan long fillers. What I like to see is Nicaraguan tobaccos being used in different ways. I am a massive fan of these tobaccos and have had the best Nicaraguan cigars and Im always looking for better.
The aroma of this cigar is quite robust. Notes of earth, oak and straw. The dry-draw produced the same fantastic notes and it is very clean and clear. Upon lighting up, the 1st third just explodes with flavor. Notes of fresh cedar, mild cocoa and it had a touch of sweetness to it. As the 2nd third rolls in, the sweetness turns more to a creamy note with some slight notes of medium bold coffee and the cocoa is dying off. Now, In the final third, the coffee note gets bolder and the creamy starts to vanish but an unusual note of anise comes and goes in a matter of a few puffs. This is a good thing due to the fact that I hate that flavor. All in all, pretty good stick. Not sure why its so popular but id smoke it again if someone gave it to me.
